We selected "SUS316L" a high-end material that boasts overwhelming corrosion resistance among stainless steels. It supports your ride in the rainy season and on roads with sodium chloride scattered during winter.

MARINE NUT 316 is a hub nut machined from SUS316L (also known as marine-graded stainless steel), a highly corrosion-resistant stainless steel. SUS316L is a stainless steel with high corrosion resistance and durability, specially designed to withstand not only rain and snow, but also seawater, salt water, humidity, and harsh marine environments and coastal areas. It is a stronger material with greater rigidity than titanium alloy.

The "L" in SUS316L stands for "Low Carbon." It prevents corrosion at the crystal level caused by heat during fastening and drastically reduces the risk of "nut seizing" and "fastener damage" due to age-related deterioration. Furthermore, the beautiful finish, precisely machined one by one in Tsubame-Sanjo, a town renowned for metalworking, is only possible with SUS316L. This ensures high tightening accuracy as a nut.

At the Bicycle Film Festival held in Yokohama, I watched a short film called "Snow Warrior," which showed a female messenger riding on snowy roads in Canada during winter, where sodium chloride had been scattered. That's when I realized the necessity of creating a rust-resistant hub nut. This hub nut was completed after verifying the performance of titanium and stainless steel, considering cost, corrosion resistance, and rigidity.
